Ever wish upon a star?  This is your chance to wish upon zillions of them at one time at the “astronomical” 20th Annual Star Party at Prineville Reservoir State Park.  Mark SATURDAY, MAY 4TH on your calendar and join us for a day-long family-friendly celebration of Central Oregon’s incredible dark night skies!

This year’s presentations, displays and kid’s activities will focus on the theme of Mars. We’ll begin the day at 9:00am with two free kayak tours of the lake environment, looking at geology and history of the area.  Check back for kayak tour registration on our Park Store beginning on April 1st.

Prineville’s 20th Star Party is a big deal!  We will offer a discovery hike, solar system stroll and solar viewing, a free hot dog lunch, a virtual reality demonstration and a smattering of kid’s programs throughout the afternoon. Continuing into the evening, we’ll learn more about space exploration from the Director of the (Sunriver) Oregon Observatory and kids will participate in a Mars Mission Party!  Finally, what we’re all waiting for... at dark, the telescopes come out for up-close-and-personal stargazing and planet viewing!

Free to the public and open to all, we promise a full day you and your family will not soon forget.  Come for the day or make your camping reservation now and stay with us for the entire night!  Co-hosted by long-time partners, the Sunriver Nature Center and Oregon Observatory.
