Please join us for the First day Hike at Port Orford Heads State Park
From the Lifeboat we will take Nellies Cove Trail to the former Tower Location and then head Northwest to the Headland Trail. From the Headland Trail viewpoint we will loop back to the Parking lot.
Stunning views of the Southern Oregon Coast are visible from this Historic location. From Nellies Cove Trail we will see remnants of the breakwater structures where the lifeboats were once sheltered and launched into the mighty Pacific. We will head to the former Tower location to see where the Coast Guardsmen watched for enemy aircraft, ships and submarines. Then we will take the Headland Trail to the viewpoint where the Cape Blanco Lighthouse shines in the distance.
