Join us for a free, guided walk and discussion with Dr. Stu Garrett, retired physician and botanist. Dr. Garrett continues the trdition of early NW explorers by conserving and protecting Oregon's native flora. Instrumental in helping to establish the High Desert Center of the Native Plant Society of Oregon, he's been a relentless force for control and eradication of weeds in Central Oregon. Join Stu to learn about the role of the juniper, native grasses and wildflowers in the sage-steppe ecosystem. How can we distinguish between these and those exotic invasive species which regularly move in? Learn what you can do to be a part of native restoration and renewal. Meet at the trail head kiosk at the east side parking area. Summit parking is very limited so people need to park at the base parking lot. Participants unable to hike to the top may drive and meet the group at the summit at approximately 7:30.
