Come experience one of the delicious parts of pioneer life: fresh pressed apple cider! The Oregon Trail Pioneers who built Thompson's Mills pressed apples for cider and now you can too. Visiting the mill is always free but donations for apples and half-gallons of cider will be accepted by the Thompson's Mills Preservation Society. The turbines will be demonstrated every 30 minutes and guides will be stationed throughout the mill to help you make your own flour, explain how the machines work and tell the story of how and why the last water powered mill in Oregon still operates. The site is open for tours daily from 9-4 except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Running the hands-on exhibits and seeing wooden beams- hand hewn when Abraham Lincoln was president- make a visit to Thompson's Mills a memorable family experience.
