Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint

  General Advisory 06/28/19
Beginning July 1, beach fires are prohibited from Cape Arago south to Floras Lake because of increasing fire danger caused by the combination of highly flammable gorse and strong winds typical during the summer. Fireworks of any type also are prohibited year round on all Oregon beaches and Oregon State Parks properties and campgrounds. The beach fire ban is in cooperation with the Coos Forest Protective Association and the Bandon Rural Fire Protection District. The fire ban is in effect until conditions improve.

There is an American Indian legend about this spot. Some say they hear a maiden's voice on the wind, and standing on the cliff overlooking the ocean you can easily pick out the face on Face Rock. There is a well-kept trail to the beach, and several rocky intertidal areas to explore at low tide.
