CLOSURES: - Banks-Vernonia Trail Closure: Culvert replacement project March 11 - April 12. Each culvert will require closure of area for 1 week at a time. The week of March 25th, the culvert between mile 7 and 8, just north of Buxton will be replaced. For the week of April 1, the culvert at mile 5, halfway between the Manning and Buxton trail heads will be replaced. Trail closures will extend through weekends. - Starting March 26 through noon on March 27th, the Banks-Vernonia trail will be closed from the Manning Trailhead North to Pomgratz Rd for paving repairs. And closed again April 1-4 for vegetation maintenance. Pihl Rd and Pomgratz Rd’s may be used as an unofficial bypass during this time only. - UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: All of Boomscooter Trail is closed due to downed trees. This area is impassable. Please stay clear. FOREST THINNING 2019: Stub Stewart will undergo a thinning operation in and around the Brooke Creek Hike-in area starting May 1 2019. Brooke Creek Hike-in area and surrounding trails will also be marked as closed. The area will reopen spring 2020. WINTER 2019: Expect winter weather conditions. Clayhill Horse Staging Area is open for day use. Equestrians must use designated horse trails only. Trail runs from Clayhill down Hares Canyon trail through Jackstraw Terry and back up Hares Canyon. Full loop is ~5 miles. See signs onsite. Hilltop Day Use has been winterized. There is no longer running water at Hilltop. Stub Stewart State Park Trail Closure: Permanently Closed — The following trail systems are closed : - Intersection of Boomscooter and the Banks Vernonia Trail (construction) - Williams Creek Horseshoe trail (Construction) - Bucking pass (Downed trees) - Lower Matchcutter (Landslide) Hares Canyon Horse Camp is closed for camping until April 15 2019. ***Maps of closures are available at the park office.
