School Tour Program Volunteer

Thompson's Mills State Heritage Site

Needed From March 1, 2019
Needed To November 30, 2019

School buses full of kids are coming out to Thompson's Mills State Heritage Site in Shedd to hear the stories and experience Pioneer life!  Are you interested in helping tell this story?

Can you see yourself running the flour making station or helping kids and adults travel back in time at the garden station to experience dinner making in a different era? Do you feel a strong sense of giving to the community, promoting conservation and stewardship, and sharing knowledge with others? The fast paced and fun schooul tours at the mill may be right for you.

Please consider joining our volunteer team at Thompson's Mills State Heritage Site.  Volunteers receive training to interpret the history of the Park and contribute to the inspiration, education and enjoyment of Park visitors.

School tour volunteer shifts are generally during week day mornings in 2 hour blocks between 9 am and 2 pm.  Volunteers work alongside Park staff and use developed program material.

Volunteer and discover how giving 2 hours can make a difference in connecting kids to this incredibly special place!

Please note, this is not a hosting opportunity; there are no hookups or accommodations with this volunteer position.
