Milo McIver State Park water system

We wanted to know if lead was present in the Jasper State Recreation Site water system, although small water systems like those found in a state park don’t have to be tested. After testing, lead above the federal action standard was found in some spots used by the public.

Even after months of review, we don't know where the lead is coming from. We do know water picks up lead when it sits in the pipe too long, so we are now regularly flushing the pipes. Tests show that pipe flushing is working fine. We'll continue to flush the pipes, and if you see staff running water, that's why.

We are continuing work to improve this solution. For now, the park has resumed all usual service.
