Curious about camping? Don’t have a tent or sleeping bag? No worries. Let’s Go Camping lets you try it out with our gear.

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to offer a summer series of guided weekend outings for beginning campers of ALL ages. With hands-on lessons, nature hikes and fun family activities, Let’s Go Camping makes camping easy. These events take place all across Oregon and may be coming to a park near you.  Scroll down further for 2017 event listings.

Camping basics & tent set-up
Equipment care & maintenance
Leave No Trace (outdoor ethics)
The 10 essentials of safe hiking
Fire building & safety
Campfire and Dutch oven cooking


And... depending upon your chosen park location, other activities may include:

Ranger-led hikes Tide pooling
Kid's programs Disc golfing
Swimming Nature arts & crafts
Fishing Night sky interpretation
Kayaking Owl prowls & bat chats!

Call the Oregon State Parks Reservation Center at (888) 953-7677 for registration information.

Registration Fee: $30 per family.  You get 2 nights of camping, camping loaner gear, all instruction and materials



Do you have expertise in camping skills and an interest in helping out?

Volunteers assist in teaching sessions and serve
as mentors new campers. Join us and camp for free!
