California sea lions infected with Leptospirosis are appearing on Oregon beaches , the Oregon Marine Mammal Stranding Network reports. The contagious bacterial infection, and many others, are transmittable to humans and dogs. Please stay away from stranded marine mammals. It is a violation of federal and state laws to harass, disturb, touch or feed marine mammals. Report violations to Oregon State Police at 800-452-7888. W.B. Nelson provides a small freshwater lake and fishing dock. Bass and stocked pan-sized trout are the most common fish. The area is known for abundant waterfowl. Adjacent to the Alsea River, there's a scenic wetland area.
