California sea lions infected with Leptospirosis are appearing on Oregon beaches , the Oregon Marine Mammal Stranding Network reports. The contagious bacterial infection, and many others, are transmittable to humans and dogs. Please stay away from stranded marine mammals. It is a violation of federal and state laws to harass, disturb, touch or feed marine mammals. Report violations to Oregon State Police at 800-452-7888. Because of ongoing maintenance and inspections of the upper levels, tours currently only cover the outdoor area around the base of the lighthouse, and the ground floor of the tower. A new schedule will be announced when tours of the upper levels resume.
