Day-Use Host

Thompson's Mills State Heritage Site

Needed From May 1, 2017
Needed To May 31, 2017

Oregon's oldest water powered mill needs you to open the head gates, crack corn and tell visitors the Mill's incredible story of adaptation and survival. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind hosting opportunity with full hookups, free on-site laundry, free fresh eggs and a wide choice of projects you might want to learn more about hosting here. This tiny staff (one ranger, one half-time ranger-assistant) relies on hosts who are flexible, adaptable and willing to go above and beyond as we work together to manage and restore this 5-story tall functioning 1862 mill, 1904 house, 7 outbuildings and 20 acres on a river that floods regularly. If you’re nervous about giving tours give me a call anyway- you might be surprised what you can do here. Despite the workload, our 8000 visitors per year get some of the best customer service in the state making this a challenging but very rewarding park to host at. If you're up to the task email Tom Parsons at tom.parsons@oregon.gov for more information.

This opportunity is for the month of May but can start any time before May and may be able to be extended into June if you need a 2-month stay.
