Eagle Watch event volunteer

The Cove Palisades State Park

Needed From March 28, 2020
Needed To March 29, 2020

Do you LOVE learning about our fascinating Birds of Prey?  Are you an Eagle fanatic?  Or are you just thrilled at the sight of them riding on the wind?

Whatever the case may be, our annual EAGLE WATCH event might just be for you.  Even if you're just someone who loves birds, but doesn't know a lot about them, we could use your enthusiasm and support during our 25th Anniversary celebration as an Eagle Watch volunteer.

The event takes place on Sat, March 28 and Sun, March 29 at PGE's Round Butte Overlook Park at the site of the Round Butte Dam near Madras, and along the Deschutes River rim overlooking Lake Billy Chinook.  It is a weekend celebration of our national treasure and symbol, the American Eagle, as well as the Golden Eagle, both of which call these cliffs home.  We host children's activities and games in the Eagle Village, raptor spotting stations, local vendors, plus host a raffle drawing, awards program, and offer commemorative memorabilia for purchase.  Families can enjoy nature hikes, building bird houses and bird feeders, a hot dog lunch, and on Sunday afternoon, traditional Native American drummers and dancers from the Warm Springs tribe perform the Eagle Dance in full regalia.  You can join in to this community affair by volunteering and being a part of it all!.

There are opportunities to help in many different ways, from parking assistance and unloading, serving as a greeter, children's activity facilitator, a mascot, photographer, or being on the set-up or clean-up teams. There are many ways to serve.  2-4 hour shifts are available during one or both days.

NEW THIS YEAR: This is a VORTEX2020 volunteer service qualifying event. This means that if you serve for at least 4 hours, you will be eligible to receive a free entry ticket into the Vortex 2020 community event and concert being held at Milo McIver State Park in late August.  For specific questions about VORTEX2020, please see the event website here: https://www.vortex2020.org/

Come join in the fun!  Sign up on our official website through the OPRD Park Store at:  https://store.oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=v.dsp_item&itemId=162&eventId=180 or give us a call and let us know your assignment and shift preferences.  We've got a spot for you!
