Special Project Host

The Cove Palisades State Park

Needed From August 17, 2017
Needed To August 22, 2017

Special Project Volunteer - Once in a Lifetime Opportunity!  Chosen as one of the premier locations for watching the Solar Eclipse!

The Cove Palisades State Park will add a temporary campground for the 2017 Solar Eclipse Weekend behind the Crooked River Campground.  We need a couple (must be a minimum of 2), that is self contained and willing to dry camp.  Hours will vary based on visitor needs and are still to be determined.  Duties will include visitor services such as directing visitors to campsites, answering questions, giving out information, checking portable restrooms for supplies, picking up litter, reporting on conditions to park staff, etc.

Note:  Madras, Oregon is in the Path of Totality which means visitors will see a total eclipse of the sun beginning at approximately 9:06 am and last until 10:19 am on Monday, August 21, 2017.  This weekend is expected to draw unprecidented crowds to the region and above average attendance is expected in the park.  Travel and cell phone connectivitiy may be limited or inturpped during this time.  Campfires will not be allowed; propane or self contained, covered charcoal is ok for cooking.
