Campground Host

Minam State Recreation Area

Needed From May 1, 2017
Needed To July 31, 2017

Do you have a desire to connect outdoors with other people? Perhaps you also enjoy using your hands to get a job done? Minam State Park might be right for you!

Minam State Park is rich with logging and Native American history located deep in a canyon following the scenic Wallowa River. Our goal is to have volunteer(s) represent Oregon State Parks at our new Visitor Center and talk about: the surrounding areas, its history and culture, while also explaining regulations of the park and helping aid in maintenance tasks.

Some of these tasks include but are not limited to:

  1. Maintenance tasks: restocking and cleaning restrooms and clean and keep up the visitor center, weed eating, using a push mower, may use small power tools.

  2. Customer service tasks: talking with visitor center visitors, explaining rafting and boating rules on the scenic waterway ( as many boaters get on the river here), informing guests of things to see and do.

Additional Information for prospective volunteers:

  • Our volunteer/host site offers a 50 amp hook up as well as water and sewer. The length of the site is 50’ long.

  • There is no cell service at the park. There is satelite available.

  • There is a coinless operated Pay Phone available at the Minam Station for your use.
  • Are you an avid animal observer? There are many different types of wildlife interactions in Minam from birds to bears.
