Golden State Heritage Site is a 5.43 acre Day Use Park located about 20 miles North of Grants Pass. The host will be at this park solo with a Park Ranger located at Wolf Creek Inn. The site is equipped with water, sewer, electricity (50amp) and a land line. Little to no cell phone service is available in the park.

Duties include;

Maintenance/cleaning/security 60% 

litter picking, mowing, weed-whack, weed, remove limbs, brush, maintain trails, preventative maintenance and minor service and repairs on equipment such as changing fluids, replacing belts and hoses and sharpening blades. May assist park staff with major storm clean-up, maintenance and/or construction/repair projects. May work with corrections crew inmates on cleanup and maintenance projects. Provides security for the park while on or off duty.

Visitor Services 40%

Answer questions and provide information to park visitors. Periodically provide park tours. Prepares park for wedding and group activities. Works with park staff to coordinate special events.

Equipment used

Electric and gas powered carts, pickup trucks with trailers, tractors, riding and push mowers, string trimmers, blowers, a variety of hand and power tools and 2-way radios.

This volunteer position is a new opportunity with Oregon State Parks. It is very Maintenance driven with Interpretive and Visitor Service aspects. This position is available for 6 months up to 1 year. Please contact Ed if you are interested in volunteering at Golden.
