Campground Host

Nehalem Bay State Park

Needed To August 31, 2016

Duties:   The prioritization of the following list of duties will vary according to the time of year and the number of staff and hosts available.   

 

·         Be a visible representative of the park with an understanding of park rules and regulations.  Hosts are not responsible for enforcing rules, only providing information.

·         Greet visitors- be available as a resource to answer questions and receive comments when park staff are not available.

·         Clean and maintain yurts- clean Meeting Hall in off-season.

o   Dust, sweep, disinfect surfaces, empty garbage, clean under furniture, mop, pick up litter in site, clean fire pit. 

·         Sell firewood, ice and yurts from wood shed.

·         Pick up litter, debris and clean out fire-pits, as needed.

·         Check restrooms morning, through-out day and evening.  Duties include: stock paper, sweep floor, check garbage, wipe surfaces, if necessary, and report any cleanup issues to park staff.

·         Monitor Trash and Recycle Station- assist staff in keeping area tidy.  We have a local service provider that comes to empty stations, but it may be necessary to switch out bags, if needed.

·         Report emergencies and other problems to staff.

·         Promote interpretive campground programs and events such as Junior Ranger, Evening Programs, Shakespeare in the Park and airport events.

·         Maintain golf cart, drive in direction of traffic flow, only volunteers allowed in carts (no pets, non-volunteer family members or public allowed.)

·         Additional projects, on an as needed basis.
